HOW CHALLENGING IS THIS HIKE?

.

The Camino de Santiago route from Sarria to Santiago is generally considered moderate in difficulty, but it does have some challenging sections. The route is well-maintained, well marked and accessible to most walkers, but it does include some steep climbs and descents, especially in the first few days.

I encourage travellers to take their time and enjoy the trail and towns and scenery - no need to rush things, you can go at your own pace and take it all in!
.

Finisterre Day Trip - What To Expect

.

This excursion offers the perfect opportunity to explore and experience the highlights of Finisterre, from the iconic Finisterre Lighthouse and the charming town itself, to the picturesque coastal town of Muxía and the stunning Costa da Morte. With beautiful stops along the way, you'll discover both natural wonders and rich cultural heritage. This journey takes you through some of the most significant landmarks of the ancient Roman world and the natural extension of the Camino de Santiago. It’s a perfect blend of history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes.

.

7 Stops:
1. Ponte Maceira Ponte Maceira SURPRISE STOP in a beautiful place with a great relationship with the city of Santiago and the Camino a Finisterre.
2. Santuario da Virxe da Barca Famous for the movie The Way, is a place of significant Jacobean tradition. Located in a beautiful Atlantic coastal environment, it has numerous legends related to its famous stones and the Apostle's stay in Galicia in pre-Christian times.
3. Cape Finisterre At this point you can see the famous "END OF THE WORLD" for the ancient Romans, which coincides with Cape Finisterre. Here you will find the Finisterre Lighthouse, Km 0 of the Way to the coast, the view of a wide panoramic view of the entire Costa da Morte, etc.
4. Finisterre Town Stop for lunch right in the heart of Finisterre town. Here you enjoy the local gastronomy with many restaurants at suitable prices.
5. Ezaro Waterfall , a place of incredible beauty, next to Mount Pindo one of the most magical places in Galicia, the ancient legendary mountain of the pre-Roman peoples. The only waterfall in all of continental Europe that flows directly into the ocean.

Day Trip to Douro Valley - What to Expect

.

Our first stop is Amarante. This city becomes very important in history after S. Gonçalo´s arrival (1187-1259) - one of the most renowned saints in the Christian history. He settled himself here after his pilgrimage through Rome and Jerusalem making this city an important religious stop in Portugal. You may visit its beautiful bridge and Historic Center and at the same time, taste some of the most incredible typical sweets.
.
Galafura, the next stop! Galafura is a small village near Peso da Régua. On the way we’ll stop to see The Miradouro de São Leonardo de Galafura near Covelinhas, parish of Galafura. From its top at 640 meters high, you have a privileged view over the river Douro and the surrounding landscape. This is one of the highlights of your day! Next it’s time for a fantastic all-inclusive lunch in a family owned restaurant, where food is homemade.
.
The tour continues to Pinhão one of the most beautiful and charming villages of this region. Stop for a scenic relaxing cruise. The views to the vineyards offered are just gorgeous! End your day with a fantastic visit to a local wine estate where you will have the opportunity to also taste different types of wine and learn a lot about how the precious Port Wine is made.
